Birthday Marketing Campaigns for Your Business

Everyone likes celebrating the special events in their lives. Customers want to take every opportunity to break out of their everyday routine and have a little fun. A great way to help your customers find joy is to send them a little something on their birthday. A birthday marketing message, discount code or special gift is a fantastic way to show your customers that you care about them and establish a stronger personal connection.

Birthday Marketing Campaigns for Your Business

  1. Think of the Timing – You might assume that you should send the birthday greetings on your customers actual birthday, but have a think about what you’re offering first. If you run a B&B, or operate a flight deals website, you might be better of sending your birthday wishes the month before with a coupon code to your business, encouraging your customer to do something special on their actual birthday. That way you’ll give them time to plan in advance.
  2. Use Facebook – Facebook birthday ads are a great way to get access to people who aren’t already your customers by reaching out on their special day. You can set up a Facebook ad that specifically targets users celebrating a birthday. You might like to narrow down your ad criteria to reach users who live in your local area and have an upcoming birthday to offer them a free birthday drink or two-for-one meal.
  3. Use Automated Email Marketing – Scouring through your customers dates of birth each week and reaching out day to day probably seems like a lot of work. But the good news is, most email marketing platforms have automated birthday emailing capabilities. So all you have to do is create a beautiful birthday themed email, input your customers birthday details and the software will do the rest. It’s set and forget.
  4. Target the Spouse – Instead of contacting the birthday recipient directly, you might like to think outside the box by organising a direct mail marketing campaign that targets their spouse instead. Send a catalogue of your products out with a note saying “We noticed your wife’s birthday is coming up, see anything she might like?”. Offer a discount on products purchased in the next 14 days as an added incentive.
  5. Send a Free Gift – Everyone loves a freebie – especially on their birthday. This is a popular idea with many businesses. Offering a free birthday coffee, slice of cake or half price meal can be a great way to help your customer celebrate their birthday and give them (and you!) the added gift of a positive association with your brand.
  6. Mail Out a Handwritten Birthday Card – Birthday campaigns don’t have to be fancy. With so much of our lives playing out in the digital world something as simple as a handwritten birthday card can make a huge difference to a customer.
